Formål / Sammendrag:
The main objectives of the research work were (i) to observe and evaluate particles (flocs) appearing during wastewater coagulation process by image analysis techniques (ii) to develop the floc sensor prototype to improve coagulation dosing control system. Flocs formation process depends on initial wastewater quality, type of coagulant added and its dosage. The relationships between these parameters were established using statistical methods both for laboratory-scale and full-scale data. The digital imaging system based on texture analysis of flocs has been tested in wastewater treatment plant (Drøbak, Norway). The results of these studies showed the potential of the system to be developed into a fully automated online coagulant dosing control system.
