Industrial PhD established in partnership with a private Norwegian Company working within the field of the production of nutritional and pharmaceutical products based on omega3 fat.

The overall objective is to investigate the benefits of integrating membrane-based filtration technologies into a food production process that involves the extraction of high omega-3 PLs from herring roe, and what would be the impact of the product quality.

In particular the project is aimed to the development of Nanofiltration process able to recover fat molecules from a solvent extracted from marine biological material and produce a superior product with a more purified profile when compared with the products produced traditionally.
