Formål / Sammendrag:

Increasing demand and depleting resources have motivated researchers to explore alternative sources of phosphorus. The primary goal of project ‘RECOVER’ (BiA-NFR) is to identify new processes for enhanced recovery of nutrients from wastewater. The objective of the research is to improve the efficiency of the process through better surveillance and process control. A real-time process monitoring shall be implemented using a combination of physical sensors and soft-sensors (model based dynamic state estimators). These sensor data shall be used to design an optimal control strategy using the concepts of model predictive control.

Experimental work is conducted (with the assistance of Master students) to study the following.

  1. Mechanisms for simultaneous removal of particles and phosphorus in wastewater using pre-polymerised coagulants/polymer.

2. Effect of metal ions on Plant Availability of Phosphorus (PAP) in wastewater sludge.
